Restoration of War Memorial

Brockham War Memorial was fully restored in 2009 after it lay in disrepair for five years.

The memorial was toppled over in 2004 by the wind, but funds were not available to repair it. After a huge community fundraising effort, the required £10,000 was raised to bring it back to its former glory. Derek Holgate, chair of Brockham Royal British Legion, spearheaded the project and the unveiling took place in November 2009.

The Remembrance Parade that year was attended by the Royal British Legion, representatives from the forces, Scout and Guides groups, members of the parish council and Brockham residents.  The parade marched from the Dukes Head to the church where a rededication service was held for the newly restored war memorial.
